When you compare cosmetic surgery prices between countries, the gaps can be large, and it is natural to wonder where the difference really comes from. We will not quote figures here, because a meaningful price depends entirely on your case. What genuinely changes the price
- The complexity of your procedure. More extensive surgery, or combining procedures, means more theatre time and more cost.
- The surgeon's experience. A highly experienced specialist is not where you want the discount to come from.
- The hospital and anaesthesia. An accredited hospital with proper anaesthetic care and emergency support costs more than a basic setup, and it is worth it.
- What is included. Tests, medications, garments, hospital nights, transfers, interpreter and follow up all have a cost. A low price often means some of these are not in the package.
- Revision policy. A clear, fair policy if a revision is ever needed is part of the value.
Why Turkey can be cheaper without being worse
Lower prices in Turkey come mostly from lower running costs, high volume, and exchange rates, not from cutting corners on skill. That is the honest reason so many patients travel there and are delighted. The care can be excellent and the price can still be far lower than private treatment at home.
What should never be cut to save money
This is the important part. Some things are fair places for a lower price, and some are not. You should never save money by removing:
- the proper medical assessment before surgery,
- the accredited hospital and appropriate anaesthetic care,
- the aftercare and follow up.
When a price looks too good, it is usually one of these three that has quietly disappeared. A cheap operation that skips the assessment or the aftercare is not a saving, it is a risk you have paid to take.
How to read a quote like an expert
- Ask for an itemised breakdown, then compare packages line by line rather than by the headline figure.
- Ask what is not included, and what would cost extra, such as additional nights or tests.
- Ask what happens if you need to stay longer for medical reasons.
- Treat a suspiciously low price as a question to investigate, not a bargain to grab.
