Who writes this, and how it is checked.

Everything on this site is written by the VIP Surgery Turkey coordination team in Istanbul. The organisational half, how the process runs, what a trip involves, travel, accommodation, timings and aftercare logistics, comes from our own day to day practice rather than from research.

We do not buy articles, and we do not publish text supplied by a clinic or a device manufacturer as though it were ours.

A clinical claim, a recovery time, a figure about risk or a description of how a procedure is performed is checked with the partner surgeon who performs that procedure before it is published. Where that check has not happened, the claim does not go up. A post has waited weeks for a single sign off rather than be published unverified.

Where a number has not been confirmed, we leave it out instead of estimating it. A page with a gap in it is more useful than a page with a plausible invention in it.

We do not currently publish a named medical reviewer. When we do, it will be named on the page and on a separate medical review policy, not implied.

• Prices, accreditations or certifications we cannot evidence.
• Patient numbers, success rates or surgical outcomes we cannot evidence.
• Any guarantee of a result. Two people having the same operation do not get the same outcome.
• Patient photographs or personal details without documented written consent.
• Reviews we did not receive, names we invented, or quotes we edited into something the patient did not say.
• Advertising written to look like a medical recommendation.

Where we rely on an outside source we say which one, and we prefer primary sources over summaries of them.

Every article carries the date it was published, and the date it was last changed when it has been changed. We do not refresh a date to look current: a date only moves when the page actually moves.

We are a commercial business and this site exists to bring us patients. We think that is compatible with writing honestly, on one condition: factual explanation and our own offer stay visibly separate.

The test we hold ourselves to is whether a page is still useful to someone who reads it and then chooses a different company. If it is not, it is an advertisement, and it should look like one.
