What is Rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure to correct or eliminate acquired or congenital defects of the nose. Restoring the complete absence of the nose is also a rhinoplasty. Rhinoplasty is performed not only for aesthetic correction, but also for medical reasons. For example, a curvature of the nasal septum can make breathing difficult or cause snoring during sleep. In these cases, the operation solves this problem.

The main purpose of rhinoplasty is to restore the correct shape of the nose, its cartilage and bone defects. This type of surgery has been known for many centuries. The technique of rhinoplasty is being improved every year. Thanks to modern methods, nowadays you can easily make a perfect nose.

Indications for Rhinoplasty

The reasons why clients apply for nose surgery are different. They can arise from an injury or congenital defects.

• Breathing problems, including snoring in your sleep;
• Disproportionate, in relation to other parts of the face, the size of the nose;
• Damage or displacement of the bone or cartilage tissue of the nose;
• Deformation of the nasal axis;
• Presence of a curved nasal septum;
• Aesthetic defects of the nose: wide nostrils, tip asymmetry, hump;
• Consequences of a previously unsuccessful operation.

The performed surgical procedure make the nose beautiful and proportional, as well as restore proper breathing.

The method of rhinoplasty depends on the indications for its performing. There are open and closed surgical interventions. The open method is performed using an external incision of the skin. The closed method involves intervention through the mucous membrane in the nostrils.

External incisions are not carried out, so the external restoration of the face will be faster. All incisions are sewn up with neat cosmetic stitches, which after healing do not leave traces on the patient`s face.

There is also a method of structural rhinoplasty. To do this, the doctor makes a bone fracture or forms a rigid structure from cartilage tissue that firmly holds the nasal shape. In this case, it is necessary to apply a plaster splint.

The doctor will be able to determine the method of future rhinoplasty during the preoperative consultation.

Regardless of the chosen method of operation, the whole procedure is performed under anesthesia. It can be a drug-induced sleep or local anesthesia. In any case, the patient will not feel pain. During the operation, the presence of an anesthesiologist is necessarily.
