What actually changes

Fill the space, reset the portions

Under light sedation, a deflated balloon is passed into the stomach through the mouth and filled with sterile saline, occupying space so smaller meals genuinely satisfy. You go home the same day. Over the following months the balloon does the enforcing while you and the dietitian build the habits; at removal (the same quick endoscopic visit), the habits are what remain. Some patients use the balloon to reach a safer weight before joint surgery, fertility treatment, or as a trial run before deciding on permanent bariatric surgery.

Honest expectations

Real, but moderate, and habit-dependent

The first days are an adjustment: nausea and cramping are common while the stomach gets acquainted with its guest, medication manages it, and it passes. Weight loss with a balloon is real but moderate, typically around 10–15% of body weight, and the long-term result depends entirely on the habits built while it's in place. That's why dietitian support isn't an add-on to our balloon plans; it is the plan. If your goals or health call for more, we'll say so and show you the surgical options honestly.

★★★★★

I wasn't ready for surgery and didn't want scars, so the balloon was perfect. The first few days were queasy exactly as they'd warned, then it settled. The dietitian check-ins were the real value, six months later the balloon is out and the smaller-portion habit stuck. Honest about what it could and couldn't do.
