Functional rhinoplasty

Straightens the septum and opens the airway, done alone or combined with aesthetic changes, so one surgery solves both.

Whether your case needs bone work (osteotomy) or only cartilage refinement is decided honestly at consultation, surgeons avoid breaking bone when the goal doesn't require it.

Airport pick-up, hotel, rest.

Day 2: Surgery

Consultation with surgeon and anesthesiologist; surgery the same day if all checks pass. Within hours you're eating and walking; the night is spent under care.

Back to the hotel. You can shower (keeping the splint dry) and move normally, gently.

Check-up; internal dressings removed and breathing starts to ease.

The cast comes off, your surgeon examines the result, and you're cleared to fly home, where the healing continues under our remote follow-up.

What the weeks after really look like

Bruising around the eyes looks worse than it feels and fades within ~2 weeks.
Breathing is stuffy for the first days (internal splints), partially clear from day 3–5, and fully clear as internal swelling settles over ~2 weeks.
The mirror will lie to you at first. Swelling hides the real result, the shape refines at 3–4 months and finishes settling at 6–12. Every rhinoplasty patient needs this sentence; we'd rather you hear it before surgery than worry after.
No glasses resting on the bridge, no saunas, no contact sports for the periods your surgeon sets; sleep semi-upright the first weeks.

Rhinoplasty, the honest answers

Will my nose bone be broken?

Only if your correction genuinely requires it. Tip refinement and small hump removal often don't. When osteotomy is needed for a major reshape, it's a controlled, precise part of the plan, not the drama the phrase suggests.

I can't breathe well through my nose, can that be fixed?

Yes. Functional rhinoplasty straightens the septum, adjusts the internal structures and restores the airway, with or without changing how your nose looks. Many patients combine both goals in one surgery.

When will I see the real result?

First impression at cast removal (day 6–7), but judged fairly at 3–4 months, final at 6–12. Photos along the way show you the progress your daily mirror hides.

How long do the bruises last?

Typically gone within two weeks, most patients feel comfortable on video calls after one and at social events after two.

What are the risks?

Temporary swelling, bruising and stuffiness are near-universal and pass. True complications (infection, healing issues affecting the result) are uncommon with an experienced rhinoplasty specialist and good aftercare, and rhinoplasty is one of the procedures where specialist experience shows most.
