Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty) · Istanbul

When diet and training can't fix what pregnancy or weight loss left behind.

Stretched skin and separated abdominal muscles don't respond to exercise, no matter how disciplined you are. A tummy tuck repairs both, restoring a firm, flat abdomen and, for many patients, relieving the back strain that comes with weakened muscles.

Is this for you?

A tummy tuck is the right conversation if…

…you see loose, overhanging skin that no workout tightens; stretch marks concentrated below the navel; a belly that protrudes because the muscles beneath have separated (diastasis, common after pregnancy); or sagging skin after major weight loss. Mothers wanting their pre-pregnancy shape back and patients after large weight loss are the two most common stories we hear, both with excellent options.

Not sure whether you need a tummy tuck or just liposuction? That's one of the most common questions, and the honest answer depends on your skin and muscles, not your weight. Send us photos on WhatsApp, a surgeon will tell you which one your body actually needs.

Types

Full or mini, matched to your body

Full abdominoplasty

Removes excess skin and fat across the abdomen, repairs separated muscles from ribs to pubis, repositions the navel, and can correct an umbilical hernia in the same surgery.

Mini-abdominoplasty

Treats the zone below the navel only, a shorter surgery and an easier recovery, right for smaller corrections without significant muscle separation.

Most tummy tucks are combined with liposuction of the waist and flanks so the new abdomen flows into natural, balanced contours, your surgeon will recommend what your case genuinely needs.

Recovery, honestly

What the weeks after really look like

  • The first week asks the most of you, rest bent slightly forward, sleep on your back with knees raised, and let people help you.
  • Desk work from 2–3 weeks; lifting, sport and heavy effort wait 1–2 months, with a gradual return over ~4 months.
  • The scar sits low, hidden under underwear or a bikini. It fades significantly over a year, and we'll guide your scar care from day one.
  • The complete, final result, flat, firm, settled, is a 2–4 month story. It's worth it.

★★★★★

After two children my stomach never went back, no matter what I did. They repaired the muscle separation I didn't even know I had. Four months later I feel like myself again, and my back stopped aching too.

Good questions to ask

Tummy tuck, the honest answers

Tummy tuck or liposuction, how do I know which I need?
Liposuction removes fat but doesn't tighten skin or repair muscles. If skin folds over or your belly protrudes from muscle separation, liposuction alone will disappoint. A photo consultation settles this question quickly, and honestly.
Will my abdominal muscles be repaired?
Yes, in a full tummy tuck, repairing diastasis (suturing the separated muscles back together) is a standard part of the surgery. It's what flattens the profile and narrows the waist, and often eases back discomfort too.
How big will the scar be?
It runs low across the abdomen, just above the groin, sized to how much skin is removed, and always placed to hide under underwear. A mini-tuck leaves a shorter scar. Expect it to fade from red to a pale line over about a year; good aftercare makes a real difference, and we'll prescribe exactly what to use.
How long before I'm "normal" again?
Around 10 days of genuine rest, desk work at 2–3 weeks, most normality at 1–2 months, and full unrestricted activity by about 4 months. Combining procedures extends this somewhat, your plan will say precisely.
What are the possible complications?
Swelling and tightness are normal and pass. Uncommon risks, fluid accumulation, wound issues, widened scars, are heavily reduced by operating in a fully equipped hospital, wearing your compression garment, and following aftercare. You'll have our team monitoring you at every stage, in Istanbul and after you're home.
Can I have a tummy tuck if I plan more children?
You can, but we usually advise waiting until your family is complete, a future pregnancy can stretch the repaired tissues and undo part of the result. This is exactly the kind of honest planning your consultation is for.
