A buttock lift is a different operation from a BBL. A BBL adds volume with transferred fat. A lift removes the skin that stopped holding its shape, usually after significant weight loss, and repositions what remains. In one technique your own removed tissue is kept and used as a natural internal filler, so the lift and the fullness happen in the same surgery.
…you have lost a lot of weight and the skin never followed; the shape sags rather than lacks volume; there is a fold where the buttock meets the thigh; or a previous fat transfer did not hold because there was no firm skin envelope to hold it. If you pinch the area and there is loose skin rather than emptiness, you are looking at a lift, not a BBL.
Many of our patients arrive after gastric sleeve or bypass surgery, sometimes ours. Excess skin is the honest price of a big weight loss, and this is the operation that finishes the job.
If what you actually want is more volume and your skin quality is good, read our Brazilian Butt Lift page instead. Photos on WhatsApp settle which one your body needs in a single conversation.
The surgeon removes the excess skin and lifts what remains, placing the scar high so it hides under underwear or a bikini. Right when the shape is good but the skin has given up.
Instead of discarding the tissue removed during the tightening, the surgeon keeps it, folds it under and secures it as a natural internal filler. You get lift and fullness in one operation, using your own tissue, with nothing implanted and no fat harvested from elsewhere.
The flap technique is the reason many post-weight-loss patients do not need implants or a separate fat transfer. Which technique suits you depends on how much tissue there is to work with, and your surgeon decides that after examining you, not from a price list.
